6/18/2023 0 Comments Home alone 2![]() Before Kevin can hear the captain’s announcement that they’re headed to New York, not Florida where his family plans to spend the holidays (“How can you have Christmas without a Christmas tree?!” is his response to the tropical locale), he puts his headphones on and zones out. The airport staff let him on the plane, which apparently doesn’t have assigned seating. He promptly bumps into a boarding assistant and loses his ticket among all the others that have just fallen to the floor. Straggling behind trying to reload batteries for his tape recorder (three nouns I didn’t think I would be writing in the year of our lord 2022), he follows the trench coat-clad man he mistakes for his father (John Heard) to the wrong terminal. Whereas the original finds Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin left at home alone in his palatial Chicago mansion while his parents and entire extended family fly to France, Home Alone 2 ups the ante, with Kevin Lost in New York.Īfter the requisite chaos of the McAllister home pre-holiday travel at the beginning of the first (and only, as we’ve established) two films, Home Alone 2 begins in the Chicago O'Hare airport, where this time Kevin has been brought along for the ride. In other words: those of us who grew up with it as a Christmas staple are all old people now! Home Alone 2, is the far superior sequel to 1990’s Home Alone and celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this holiday season. But, in contrast, Home Alone 2 is less anachronistic simply because we can believe Kevin could get lost in New York, and there’s something slightly more interesting about rewatching it. With smart devices ruling our lives and helicopter parents fearing for children’s safety, the idea that Kevin would get left “home alone” in the first movie is absurd. Much has been made about how the events of Home Alone wouldn’t fly today. It’s more realistic, and reminds us of a time when New York City was changing, forever. Although many might disagree, the truth is that Home Alone 2 has aged way better than the original for one huge reason. It became a classic and would be missed if not shown on Christmas.30 years ago, on November 15, 1992, the seemingly unnecessary sequel to Home Alonemanaged to do the impossible - be better than the original. It fully delivers and is the kind of movie you can rewatch once in a while. Overall it is not hard to see why this became a success. He is probably the Michael Jackson of film-music. Then of cause is the music by the legend himself John Williams. Non of the above would have worked without their great work. I will give credits to the director Chris Columbus and producer / writer John Huges for creating this. She is just great and has an awesome carer because of her skills. ![]() Her journey to get as fast as possible to her son is entertaining and well acted. Special credits to Kevins mother played by Catherine O’Hara. Both fully deliver and improved this movie with their performance. The other stars are the 2 thieves Harry played by Joe Pesci who is a legendary actor and Marv played b Daniel Stern who has also a great career. It is hard at this age and many stars who become legends later on failed earlier as children or even as teens. Macaulay Culkin is one of a few child actors that delivers. ![]() Be it Kevin who can do things he would never be allowed before, his family or the burglars. You can understand all characters motivations. It is part of the writing, humor and actors that are combined creating an enjoyable movie. ![]() Like I already said this is a Christmas comedy and works well. There are however 2 burglars who use the holidays for a series of raids on holiday abandoned homes and have picked the McCallister household as target. Kevin is now “Home Alone” and enjoys his freedom while his family is on their way back with his now panic fueled mother ahead of the others. When his family wants to spend Christmas in Paris he is forgotten at their home in Chicago because of an unlucky chain of events (They took great care to make the family not look careless or abandoning). It is the story of Kevin who is the youngest son of the McCallister family. When his family wants to spend Christmas in Paris he is forgotten at their home in Chicago because of an unlucky chain of events (They took great This movie has become a Christmas classic and is shown every year.
